Our March 2020 Calendar of Events!

I had a very good stay at MediLodge of Leelanau. Everyone was so nice and treated me very well. I came here to do some therapy to get better and stronger, and the therapy team did an excellent job helping me achieve my goal so I can go back home. I would definitely recommend this facility to others.

My stay at MediLodge of Leelanau was very insightful. I was very pleased with all of the staff and how wonderful they all were. The PT and OT staff are outstanding!

I have enjoyed my stay at MediLodge of Leelanau. The nurses, CNA's, and management have been very friendly and kind. The staff was always working hard to provide great care. The food was good with many other alternative options available, which made me happy. I would recommend this facility to anyone looking for long-term or short-term care.

"I would like to thank the staff at Leelanau Health Center for the excellent care given to my mother, Gail Smith, this past summer. She was at Leelanau Health Center from July through September 2007. Mom needed skilled nursing care, which Leelanau Health Center in Suttons Bay, MI was able to supply. What impressed me, was not just the medical care and therapy, which were first rate. The gentle kindness, and willingness to be accommodating to my mother and family members during a very stressful time, was outstanding and appreciated. An example of this was the Social Worker taking a personal interest in making sure Mom was able to listen to the Harry Potter book on tape she was given. The nurses and aides were kind and professional. Mom was unable to move on her own, but the nurses and aides were patient and always willing to take the time to meet mom's needs. Similarly, the therapists were kind and encouraging coaches who refused to take "I can't" for an answer. Overall, it was the little things that made the stay successful for Mom. We are grateful that Mom had the opportunity to be in such a supporting atmosphere while she began her healing process."

I was recommended by my physical therapist in Petoskey to come to MediLodge of Leelanau for my rehab needs after my accident. I am very happy to report complete satisfaction with the whole system from admission to discharge. Nancy, Debra, and Cheryl, my nurses, and all of the CNAs, especially Liz and Barb, provided excellent care and cared about me! Showing that you cared was so important for me and my rehabilitation. I was very impressed with all the activities offered. Lena is very good at her job, and she is everywhere all the time. Also, the whole PT-OT department was excellent too. They all have really helped with my progress.

Lena is the Life Enrichment Director of MediLodge of Leelanau. I think of her in a t-shirt that says, “not on my watch.” We are in over three months without anyone getting the virus. The outside world is not allowed in. All of the staff, nurses, CNA’s, doctors, housekeepers, and maintenance have come together to make this a safer place. I believe Lena is responsible for all of the compassion, and she cares so deeply for everyone here. She is my hero. The rehab department is wonderful. I am able to navigate much better than a few months ago. Because of their engaging personalities, I look forward to their visits. Thank you, Chad, Amanda, and Brittany.

Our plans are only a thought, when changed in a moment’s time. One fall and both legs were broken, six bones. Suddenly, I was in the hospital undergoing three surgeries. Though my house was already wheelchair accessible, my body was not ready to return home. MediLodge of Leelanau came up as a possibility to receive sometime of rehab. It was close to home, so that was a big seller. My fall came a few weeks prior to Easter and not being able to get together with my family was daunting. That’s when Lena mentioned an available room to gather with my family. They put tables together to hold all 22 of us, complete with tablecloths and a buffet table to hold our food. That was going a step above. It blessed my stay, and I appreciated their going beyond and above. I would recommend MediLodge of Leelanau as a place of rehab to anyone in need. The staff is friendly, helpful, and very kind.

After a very bad fall at our winter home in Mesa Arizona, and a ten-day hospital stay, I was eager to return to Leelanau country for medical care. We boarded the airplane in Phoenix on May 3rd, at 7:00 am for Michigan with my husband, grandson and oldest daughter. After 20 hours of travel time, we finally reached our destination at 3:00 am on May 4th with a wonderful greeting at the front entrance of MediLodge by familiar happy faces. My care has been excellent, especially with all the major changes that are proceeding forward. I appreciate the healthcare facility and the employees of which many I know personally and encouraged education along life’s journey. During my 66 years in the nursing profession, working at Leelanau Memorial Hospital and Leelanau Clinic, it has been a great pleasure. My progress is remarkable and made possible at Medilodge by the persistent therapy department and wonderful nursing team. We must have changes in our daily life to see progress and be ready to help one another whenever possible. I look forward to going home and with Thanks to MediLodge of Leelanau for wonderful caring and compassionate employees.
