We were so fortunate to have Mom at Medilodge of Leelanau and under such great care. Mom loved the staff and environment. She touched so many lives, leaving a lasting memory. She was a ray of sunshine.
My stay at MediLodge of Leelanau was very insightful. I was very pleased with all of the staff and how wonderful they all were. The PT and OT staff are outstanding!
Lena is the Life Enrichment Director of MediLodge of Leelanau. I think of her in a t-shirt that says, “not on my watch.” We are in over three months without anyone getting the virus. The outside world is not allowed in. All of the staff, nurses, CNA’s, doctors, housekeepers, and maintenance have come together to make this a safer place. I believe Lena is responsible for all of the compassion, and she cares so deeply for everyone here. She is my hero. The rehab department is wonderful. I am able to navigate much better than a few months ago. Because of their engaging personalities, I look forward to their visits. Thank you, Chad, Amanda, and Brittany.
It was a significant operation which included 4 surgeries in a 1 week period which resulted in a below the knee amputation. I was transferred to Medilodge of Leelanau based on local advice. The admission team was very through, educational and sensitive to my mental condition and developing needs. They explained all the amenities of the facility and the activities to expect during my rehabilitation. Staff from each discipline was very through and very interested in my case to better support me and my recovery and adapted to my personal needs on a 24 hour basis. Pain management was optimized daily, and I became pain free and sleeping through the night very quickly. During my occupational and physical therapy I was able to maintain a flexible scheduled so that I could manage personal work related activities. After a 2 week period from admission I will be discharged with confidence and the skill-sets to be self-sufficient and have maximum mobility. I felt totally comfortable with leaving personal possessions in my room based on my relationships I established initially. I would highly recommend Medilodge of Leelanau to anyone needing skilled nursing care.
Everyone at MediLodge of Leelanau was kind, professional and treated me with respect. They were very tentative to my call light when I needed help. The therapy team was great and we all joked around a lot, which made it fun.

"I would like to thank the staff at Leelanau Health Center for the excellent care given to my mother, Gail Smith, this past summer. She was at Leelanau Health Center from July through September 2007. Mom needed skilled nursing care, which Leelanau Health Center in Suttons Bay, MI was able to supply. What impressed me, was not just the medical care and therapy, which were first rate. The gentle kindness, and willingness to be accommodating to my mother and family members during a very stressful time, was outstanding and appreciated. An example of this was the Social Worker taking a personal interest in making sure Mom was able to listen to the Harry Potter book on tape she was given. The nurses and aides were kind and professional. Mom was unable to move on her own, but the nurses and aides were patient and always willing to take the time to meet mom's needs. Similarly, the therapists were kind and encouraging coaches who refused to take "I can't" for an answer. Overall, it was the little things that made the stay successful for Mom. We are grateful that Mom had the opportunity to be in such a supporting atmosphere while she began her healing process."
I have never been to a skilled nursing center before and didn’t know they were this nice and well run. I had reservations when I first got here, but upon entering the building I was greeted at the door and the customer services was exceptional all throughout my stay. The food was great (I thought nursing home food would be terrible), the housekeeping department kept up the building so well and my room so clean. I was always offered something to do multiple times a days, and I really enjoyed the music in the dining room while we had lunch. The nursing staff was so prompt and was at my bedside every time I called. I will definitely come back here in the future if I need any therapy or long term care. This place was so well ran and would recommend to anyone.
Caring. Attentive. Helpful. This describes the staff and care at Medilodge of Leelanau.
My husband was a patient at Medilodge for a month of rehab following a hospital stay. The staff was extremely caring and attentive to all of his needs—both physical and mental. My husband has Parkinson’s Disease and the nurses were very diligent in giving him his medications on time.
A physical therapist worked with him at least once and sometimes twice a day which strengthened his upper body and helped him regain his mobility. He also received quality care from an occupational therapist and speech therapist. Trevor, one the certified nursing assistants, bonded with him and brought joy to what otherwise could be considered difficult or menial tasks.
The facility was very clean and comfortable. His meals were balanced and good. We live an hour from Suttons Bay, and I never once worried if he was getting his meds or having his needs met.
When we checked out, the staff had already scheduled a follow-up doctor’s appointment and set up home therapy through Munson Home Health Care.
Our family is grateful for the care my husband received while at Medilodge of Leelanau.
Everyone here at MediLodge of Leelanau was so friendly and the food was absolutely delicious! I was very content with my stay here.
From the admission process and the initial tour with the administrator, everyone was very gracious with us and helped us understand what to expect and really helped ease our fears with this difficult decision. Throughout Tom's stay, as the challenges came, everyone was great at giving us the appropriate information to both to help guide us and help us not miss any opportunity to care for my husband. The care he received was exceptional. The C.N.A's and nurses were sincere and personal and everything they did for Tom and our family was above and beyond what we had expected. As Tom drew closer to passing, staff were considerate of noise, environment, appropriate in their approach, and very gentle and caring, making this difficult time into a beautiful moment. We went into the process with such an expectation of difficulty, but after Tom passed and we left, we found ourselves missing the staff and residents as we reflected on what we have come to see as a very unexpected blessing. The utmost respect and dignity was offered our family all the way up to the time Tom was prepared and taken out of the building by the funeral home. We were so moved by the whole experience.
We would highly recommend the Medilodge of Leelanau to anyone in a season of life who would require this type of care.
